Signature Confirmation
Express mail shipments include signature confirmation. Priority mail shipments do not.

Someone must be home to receive/sign for the express mail shipment on the first delivery attempt for our live guarantee to remain effective. If no one is home to receive the order, the live guarantee will be voided and a note will be left informing you that it is being held at your local carrier station. Please pick up your shipment as soon as possible.

You may waive the express mail signature confirmation by noting so in the comment section of the order form, but do so at your own risk. This will void our live guarantee, even if someone was home when the shipment arrived. This is because the insurance that is included with express mail requires the signature confirmation.

Shipping Schedule
Our shipping days are Monday through Wednesday. This policy is in place to ensure that orders will be received before Sunday and avoids shipments sitting idle at the post office on Sunday.
  • Orders placed Wednesday after 11am (PST) through Sunday Ship Monday
  • Orders Placed Monday Ship Tuesday
  • Orders Placed Tuesday Ship Wednesday
  • Orders Placed Wednesday before 11am (PST) Ship Wednesday
If your order is placed before 11am PST on Monday and Tuesday (and sometimes after), we will make every effort to ship your order on that same day.

If the scheduled shipping date for your order falls on a postal holiday, your order will be shipped on the next scheduled shipping day.

Shipping Methods
We offer USPS Priority and USPS Express shipping as our standard shipping service. Since silkworms and fruitflies are a perishable good, we do not offer USPS standard parcel post because shipment may take too long. We highly recommend that you choose express mail as your shipping method because live delivery is guaranteed. Live delivery is also guaranteed for priority mail. However, if the priority mail shipment takes longer than three days to reach you, the live guarantee is downgraded. Please see our Live Guarantee page for details.

USPS Express Mail: Overnight to two-day service (depending on your location) which includes tracking and proof of delivery. Express Mail is delivered 365 days a year with no extra charge for Saturday, Sunday, or holiday delivery. Express Mail tracking is available on the USPS Web. Recipients must be home to sign for the express mail package, otherwise, our live guarantee and the USPS insurance will be voided, and the package will be held at your USPS carrier station.

USPS Priority Mail: Priority Mail generally offers 2-3 day service to most domestic destinations and one day delivery to some locations. However, the USPS does not guarantee a 3 day delivery time. Includes delivery to every address in the United States—including PO Boxes and military addresses.

Shipping Rates Are Calculated According To:
  1. The USPS service you choose (priority or express mail)
  2. The weight of your order
  3. The destination zip code where you live
  4. The zip code we ship from (92110)
When you place your order, you will see the shipping charge. You will have the opportunity to change shipping methods before completing your order. The shipping amount may include a handling fee.

Payment Details
  • We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, personal checks and money orders.
  • Orders will not be shipped until payment is received and/or verified. Personal Checks may be held for up to seven days until the check clears.
  • Credit card payments will appear on your statement as "The Silkworm Shop" (our parent company).
  • If you are paying by personal check or money order, after you check out at our store, make payable to The Silkworm Shop (our parent company) and mail to:

Hot & Cold Pack
If you live in a HOT/COLD area, the temperature shouldn't be a problem, unless the product is shipping to areas of 90° or more or under 40° F. Heat packs should be ordered when daytime high temperatures are below 40° Heat packs are $2.50 plus 1lb extra shipping weight. It is the responsibility of the customer to order a heat pack. Please order a heat pack on the bottom of each product page of our store. We do not ship orders with cold packs because they don't do any good.

If Shipment is to areas of 90° and above or under 40°,
we cannot offer a live guarantee. Please see our Live Guarantee page for more details.

Returns
Living Items cannot be returned.
Non-Living items can be returned at the buyer's expense for exchange. You will be issued a store credit for the amount of the returned product. The original shipping amount will not be credited.

Order Cancellations
All orders that are cancelled after being placed will incur a $2.50 service charge.

Ordering from Hawaii and Foreign Countries
Live insects cannot be shipped to Hawaii without a permit.
We do not ship to foreign countries.
